“n”应该表示是名词吧，呵呵。这两个术语词尾都是“-tion”，都属于名词。

好像不是这么简单吧。ASTM的标准是技术文件，不是词典，一般不会采用这种格式的解释。况且上下文中有很多条术语，均未见到有关词性的标注，唯独这两条有。从内容上看好像是代表破折号后面的斜体字部分。中文一般没有这样的表达形式，所以不好理解。我这么理解也不知是否正确，望得到高人点醒。
